If you have a US/Canada mixer (120V/60Hz) and are planning a move out of the country, here’s some guidance on using your mixer on 230V/50Hz. This is grouped by model type with relevant advice for each.
Do not use a plug adapter to connect your US mixer directly to non-US mains. Doing so will cause immediate failure of electronic control parts and possibly to motor/armature windings, and may also present a fire hazard.
K45/K5 (1980-2023)
These mixers are distinguished by a round rear cover secured by a screw at the top, with external brush covers on either side of the upper motor housing. If your mixer was produced starting mid-2023 and has no externally visible brush covers, this section does not apply.
This model type can safely be run through a voltage converter. Such converters are inexpensive, and will convert 230V/50Hz to 120V/50Hz. Consequently the mixer will run more slowly. You can adjust the speeds to correct for the frequency difference, following the instructions in this video.
A full conversion of the internal parts for operation on 230V/50Hz can be done on solid-state models (manufactured starting in 1980).

You will also need the parts and materials listed for cleaning and regreasing the gears.
Internal conversion requires a complete disassembly of the mixer. For this model type, this is a lot of work and you may wish to have an expert do the work for you. This video will give you an idea of what’s involved in the process. After removing the 120V parts, install the 230V parts during reassembly.
Note: Hobart-era and early Whirlpool machines (up through the early 1990s) present a challenge, insofar as the lower housing does not have a mounting boss for the line filter board nor an adjacent ground point for the power cord. Look inside the lower housing, near the power cord slot. If you see a pair of holes as shown in this photo, you are good to go. You will need to tap these for a 10-24 thread, and use a 10-24 x 1/2″ pan head machine screw in each location: one for the ground lead, and one for the filter board.

“New Generation” KG25/KV25/KP26/etc and Accolade 400
These mixers have electronic speed controls, and cannot be run through a voltage-only converter. Voltage-and-frequency converters will work but are very costly and hard to find. A DC power inverter which outputs 120V/60Hz pure sine wave is appropriate, if you have one or can find one.
Parts to convert the internals for 230V/50Hz operation are no longer available for these mixers.
2023 Bowl Lift (KSM55/KSM60/KSM70)
This model type features an integrated motor/transmission assembly with an AC motor and electronic speed control. Due to the electronic speed control, these mixers cannot be run through a voltage-only converter. Voltage-and-frequency converters will work but are very costly and hard to find. A DC power inverter which outputs 120V/60Hz pure sine wave is appropriate, if you have one or can find one.
